This morning I attended opening remarks of our Chancellor, Dr. Roch.
今朝うちの大学の学長のお話を聞きに行きました。
The topic was “Feeling safe and sound.” He went through his family’s story to tie up with the theme.
トピックは”安全” 家族のお話を交えてテーマに沿って話をしました。
The most memorable remark he made and really stuck with me was: “As soon as we talk about our dreams, we are not safe. People start to criticize you.”
特に印象に残ったのは、私たちが自分の夢を他の人に語るのはあまり安全とは言えません。「私たちの夢を発表した途端に周りの人たちからの批判が飛び込んできます。」
What was my dream? What did I want to be when I was a child? Did I ever share my desired professions and get
immediate disapproval? 私の夢はなんだったろう？小さい時何になりたかったんだっけ。誰かに自分の夢の職業を行ってすぐに否定されちゃったことってあったかな？
We learned quickly that it’s not safe to share our dreams with others. It’s better kept in our hearts Just give some
general answers if anybody asks. 他の人に夢を言ってはダメ。本当の夢は心の奥に隠しておいて、誰かに聞かれたら無難な答えをしておけばいいということをかなり早いうちに学んでしまうのです。

But I found a community where I can share my wildest dream. Where everybody encourages me to pursue my dream.
でも私は自分のワイルドな夢を語れ、またそこの人たちは私が夢を実現できるように応援してくれる場所を見つけました。
That was the “Goddess group” created by Sheena Koyama. 小山シーナさんが創造された「女神グループ」でした。
Sheena started the Goddess group last November. このグループは去年の１１月に始まりました。
I am finding my calling, the purpose of my life through her coaching and interactions with other members. シーナさんのコーチングと他のメンバーの応援によって自分の使命、役割を見つけつつあります。
This Akiyo MURA is a part of my project. この秋代MURAもそのプロジェクトの一環です。
I want to expand the safe place to express the dreams with others without judgment but supports.
私は夢を仲間たちに批判されるのではなくサポートされる安全な場所にしたいと思います。
